Mid-Course Correction

It was time to go in for my next set of trays this week.. I had 3 sets to go through from my last visit, 6 weeks worth.

Up until my last visit, when I put in a new set of trays, they would pop in nice and tight. But then I noticed on my top tray 6 weeks ago that it would pop off in the back when I would bite down and it looked like it wasn’t quite all the way on against one tooth in the front. After wearing it for a day it finally settled into place and seemed to be fine other than the little gap in front.

Two weeks later, the next set goes in and hummmm…..a little worse than last time on the top tray. The back is a little more out of whack and keeps popping off when I bite down. The bottom still fits fine and after a couple of days the top tray again settles in and seems to stay on just fine but I noticed even a little more gap between a couple of my front teeth and the tray.

I probably should have called at this point for a check up but it was the week coming into Christmas and lots of things going on,…I’ll just see how it goes and maybe the next set will be okay…….

Ummmm….nope…last set goes in and the last top tray is even worse yet…..now the dilemma, do I call for that check up that I should have done last time or just ride it out because I’m going in anyways for new trays in two weeks and I’ll plead my case then? Well I’m lazy, I’ll just ride it out.

So, I go in for my appointment and explain my plight. We immediately go into “Mid course correction” mode! WHOOP WHOOP….all hands on deck all hands on deck! Okay, so it really wasn’t really like that. Apparently this kind of thing happens. Your teeth don’t move as fast or where the Invisaligns are trying to move them.

So after a little discussion it is decided that the course will be that I will continue using my new bottom trays on schedule but I will stick with my current top tray and wear it like a “retainer” In the mean time Shelia, took another impression of my top teeth and Dr. Biehle is sending off for a new set up top trays. I should be back on track with new trays in a few weeks.

On an aside…and speaking of “retainers”….Shelia has worked with me pretty much from the start and she has beautiful teeth. She was pretty close to finishing her Invisaligns when I got started. I asked her on this last visit about her retainers and how that was working…..she made the mistake of telling me that she stopped wearing them for a while and now she can’t get them in.

Now, Stonecreek has a policy of pain free, understanding and no judgment care. But I’m not a Stonecreek employee so I’m calling Shelia out on this one……SHELIA, REALLY? tisk tisk tisk….shame on you!

Actually, she is a good sport and we were joking about it, but lesson learned, even when your “done” your not done, ya gotta wear the retainers at night! I’m looking toward the finish line to be at that point!
